📰 News we're reading

• Palmer Lake proposal would let three trustees advance issues for future agendas (thebadger.news) — Palmer Lake’s Board of Trustees will consider a new agenda-setting policy on Oct. 8 that would let any three trustees require a policy topic to be queued for a future meeting. The proposal clarifies that adding items doesn’t itself set policy or spending, tightens deadlines for late additions, and will be reviewed after six months alongside a separate Code of Ethics measure.

• Palmer Lake reports $19,872 in Roads capital spending through August (thebadger.news) — Palmer Lake has spent just under $20,000 of its $1.73 million 2026 Roads capital budget through August, even as major projects like Spruce Mountain Road and Highway 105 sidewalks move through design and planning. Town documents outline drainage work near Aurelia and High Street, ADA-related design revisions on Highway 105, and continued routine maintenance by Public Works.

• Palmer Lake trustees to hear briefing on joining regional transportation authority (thebadger.news) — Palmer Lake trustees will get an Oct. 22 briefing on possibly joining the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority, a move that could eventually require local voter approval and affect sales tax funding for transportation projects. Town staff say any membership resolution must be approved before Nov. 2 to reach the PPRTA Board’s Nov. 13 meeting, though admission rules may have evolved since the 2004 founding agreement.
