2 Dead Pit Bulls Dumped By Wolcott Walking Trail: PD

WOLCOTT, CT — Two deceased pit bulls were found dumped in garbage bags near a local walking trail over the weekend, according to police.

Police on Saturday received a report of two garbage bags emitting a foul odor. Officers responded to the scene, opened the bags and discovered the dead dogs, police said.

The trail is in the area of Woodtick Road and Boundline Road.

The animals are being taken to the University of Connecticut’s Department of Pathobiology and Veterinary Science in Storrs for necropsies to help determine the cause of their deaths, police said.

Desmond’s Army Animal Law Advocates is paying for the necropsies.

The animal advocacy organization is also offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of whoever is responsible.

On Tuesday, police said an investigation is ongoing.

“These dogs deserve justice, and someone knows what happened to them,” police said, in a Facebook post. “Even the smallest piece of information could help investigators identify the person responsible.”
