2 Motorcyclists Found On Fire After Crash, Officials Say

MARLBOROUGH, CT—Two motorcyclists were found on fire after a crash, according to the Marlborough Volunteer Fire Department.

At 12:18 a.m. Sunday, the fire department responded to a reported motorcycle accident with fire on Route 66 at the intersection of North Main Street and South Main Street.

Assisting agencies included Middlesex Paramedics, the Colchester Fire Department, and an automatic launch of Life Star.

Upon arrival, first responders and bystanders found two victims on fire, fire officials said.

"Through the quick actions of those on scene, the flames were rapidly extinguished, allowing patient care to begin immediately," fire officials said. "The motorcycle operator sustained significant burns to the lower extremities and was transported by Ambulance 517, where care was transferred to Life Star for transport to a regional burn center for specialized treatment."

The passenger was evaluated for burn injuries and transported by a Colchester ambulance to a local hospital for further care.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

"The Marlborough Volunteer Fire Department would like to recognize the swift actions of the bystanders and the coordinated efforts of all responding agencies, whose teamwork ensured both patients received rapid medical care," officials said.
