3 Killed In 2 Crashes In Connecticut, IDs Released: State Police

A wrong-way fatal crash occurred Sunday morning, state police said. And two people riding on a motorcycle died after a crash, police said.

CONNECTICUT — Three people in two separate crashes were killed on the roadways over the past 48 hours, state police said Sunday afternoon.

A Bristol woman was killed in a wrong-way crash on Route 15 Sunday morning in East Hartford, state police said. Two Windsor Locks residents riding on a motorcycle were killed in a crash in Stafford on Friday afternoon, state police said.

Connecticut has seen the number of motor vehicle accidents, especially wrong-way crashes, soar in 2022.

A 2013 Grand Cherokee driven by a Manchester resident was traveling on Route 5/15 Northbound, North of Exit 91, in the left lane of two in East Hartford, state police said.

A 2003 Honda Civic driven by Nicole M. Laflamme, 33, of Brook Street in Bristol, was "traveling the wrong way on Route 5/15, traveling South in the Northbound lanes, also in the left lane," state police wrote in an accident summary.

Laflamme's vehicle struck the Grand Cherokee head-on, state police said. The Manchester resident was taken to Hartford Hospital for minor injuries, state police said.

Laflamme was pronounced dead on scene. This case remains under investigation, state police said.

2 killed in 2-vehicle crash, state police say

Two Windsor Locks residents riding on a motorcycle were killed in a two-vehicle crash on Route 190 in Stafford on Friday afternoon, state police said Sunday.

At 2:15 p.m. Friday, state and Stafford police responded to an accident involving a motorcycle and a 2010 Nissan Pathfinder. The accident occurred in the area of Route 190 and Fenton Road.

The driver of the motorcycle, Frederick John Zorick, 63, of Fernwood Drive, was declared dead at the scene, state police said. The passenger on the motorcycle, Debra Jean Zorick, 61, of Fernwood Drive, was taken to St Francis via LifeStar helicopter with serious, life-threatening injuries and later died at the hospital, state police said.

The driver of the Pathfinder, a 17-year-old, was not injured and declined medical attention, state police said.

"Initial investigation indicated Vehicle #2, a Nissan Pathfinder, traveling east on Rt 190 (Buckley Highway), drifted into the westbound lane, striking motorcycle #1 head-on," state police wrote in an accident summary. "All involved parties and witnesses remained on scene and are cooperating with State Police.
