Severe Thunderstorms Forecast For CT: Here's When, What To Know

Forecasters say we can expect strong-to-severe thunderstorms across Connecticut. Here are the updated forecast details.

When we're sleeping tonight, expect to hear some loud thunderstorms.

WFSB 3 TV meteorologists said between 11 p.m. Sunday and 2 a.m. Monday there is a chance for strong-to-severe thunderstorms. The good news is that it should remain dry for most of Sunday in case you have outdoor plans.

"Luckily, this threat isn’t until very late - so any outdoor plans you have are a go! Temperatures will be very similar to yesterday, peaking in the upper 80s inland with increasing clouds in the afternoon. It will be breezy at times with gusts 30+ mph possible," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists.

Timeline for strong storms

"A cold front arrives late bringing storms along with it. The best timeframe for these storms is 11pm-2am... even though it’s overnight, model guidance is indicating we’ll have a good amount of leftover instability in the atmosphere. Thus, gusty winds and frequent lightning are possible with these storms," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists.

Better weather to start the week, then unsettled midweek

Monday and Tuesday look great weather-wise, and then there is a chance for a shower on Wednesday through Friday, according to WFSB 3 TV meteorologists.

"The rain chances peak Thursday as a passing front will likely bring thunderstorm activity along with it for the second half of the day," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. (Read More at WFSB 3 TV).
