Over the weekend, Stetson’s family assured customers on the Winsted business’ Facebook page that it will reopen.

“We want to thank everyone for the incredible love, support, and kindness our family has received over the past few days,” the post said. “It has meant more to us than words can express.”

The current closure is only a temporary one, according to the family. A reopening date will be announced at a later time.

“This cafe was Mom’s passion, and it’s been a big part of our family’s life for many years,” the Facebook post said. “While we take some time to navigate the days ahead, our plan is to reopen and continue serving the community that Mom loved so much.”

The business, which is at 580 Main St., Winsted, serves an array of breakfast and lunch offerings, from waffles to salads to sandwiches, according to its website.

The family’s announcement had garnered nearly 400 comments expressing support as of mid-day Monday.

One commenter, Joshua Kelley, wrote, “Take your time in reopening. Everyone is delighted to hear Railway Cafe will be back and we will all be waiting patiently for that day, but take care of yourselves first.”

Another commenter, Samantha Love Artruc, added, “We as a community will be there to support you when you open your doors again.”
