PLAINVILLE, CT — A popular restaurant known for its chicken wings will be closed until later this month.
J Timothy's Taverne in Plainville announced Sunday that it will be closed until July 16 for maintenance and renovations.
"We may be able to reopen earlier if the work gets completed quickly," the restaurant wrote on its Facebook page.
The establishment's online store remains open.
J Timothy's specializes in its unique "dirt" wings.
"Our Dirt Wings are fried and sauced, then fried again and sauced again," their website reads. "Some people call this double-sauced, double- fried. We just call ‘em dirt! It results in a wing that is caramelized and a bit crispier."
Their wings have a range of flavors including honey gold BBQ, teriyaki, and sweet red chili.
The restaurant is located at a building that dates back to 1789. It became Cooke's Tavern in 1795.
Last year, J Timothy's celebrated its 45th anniversary.
