High heat, humidity, and thunderstorms are in the forecast for Connecticut in the coming days, according to meteorologists.
The National Weather Service predicts today will be mostly sunny, with highs in the mid-80s.
A significant change in the weather pattern starts on Thursday, with hotter temperatures and higher humidity, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service anticipates high temperatures around 90 degrees, with heat index values of between 95 and 100 on Thursday and Friday.
It predicts heat advisories may be needed for portions of southern New England. The hot and humid pattern will continue through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
WFSB predicts the humidity will start to rise today, with a chance for isolated showers later today.
"By (Thursday) and Friday, we're downright humid (oppressively so) and at times unsettled," WFSB reports.
WFSB is calling both Thursday and Friday "First Alert Weather Days," due to the combined heat and humidity making it feel like it is between 95 and 100 degrees.
"Afternoon/evening storms could be on the stronger side," WFSB reports. "We'll also be monitoring the threat for some heavier rain that could lead to localized poor drainage flooding."
WTNH predicts a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms every day from Thursday through Saturday. It is currently predicting the strongest storm chances are on Friday, with the timing in the afternoon and evening.
"Some could be strong to severe," WTNH reports.
Looking ahead, the National Weather Service predicts partly sunny to sunny skies on Saturday and Sunday, with high daytime temperatures in the upper 80s. Saturday also has a chance for thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, according to its long-range forecast.
