Officials issued an announcement Thursday to clarify that Harper is still missing, following a social media post which erroneously indicated he had been found.

According to police, it appears Harper voluntarily left his home, which is on O'Sullivan Drive, on foot on Aug. 10 around 6:30 a.m.

Harper left his cellphone behind. Police have used bloodhound tracking teams and drones in their efforts to find Harper.

Police have also investigated unconfirmed sightings. These included a possible sighting on Aug. 10 in the area of Lewis Street and Oakland Street, and another on Aug. 11 in the area of Maltby Street and Stafford Avenue.

"Neither sighting could be verified," Krajewski said.

Police described Harper as 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing about 140 pounds. He has gray hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing blue pants and a brown-and-blue checkered shirt.

Police are continuing to investigate Harper's disappearance, and ongoing searches are underway. The department's Detective Bureau is in charge of the case.

Police are asking the public to check their home security cameras and other available video footage for any possible evidence of Harper's whereabouts.

If you believe you have seen Harper or have information that may assist investigators, please contact Bristol Police Dispatch, available 24/7, at 860-584-3011.

"We sincerely appreciate the continued assistance and cooperation of the public," police said, in a news release. "We also remind everyone that the Bristol Police Department will provide the most accurate and verified information regarding Mr. Harper's status through our official channels as information becomes available."
