WTNH-TV co-chief meteorologist Joe Furey returned to the News 8 air waves Thursday morning, after his Storm Team 8 SUV rolled over several times in an Aug. 13 crash on the Arrigoni Bridge in Portland.
Furey walked away from the scary crash, in which his SUV was struck by another vehicle, but he remains a bit sore.
"Considering what it could have been, I'm doing OK," Furey told his colleagues during the Good Morning Connecticut newscast.
Dozens of fans and colleagues welcomed Furey back with support and well-wishes, for which he said he is grateful.
"Welcome back, Joe!" one fan wrote. "You might start carrying a St. Christopher (patron saint of travelers) medal with you!"
Another added, "Welcome back Joe. I was thinking of you last evening and wondering how you were doing. Glad you're ok. How scary that must have been for you."
Several bystanders who saw the crash reportedly helped Furey. The driver of the other vehicle was detained by police in connection with the collision.
Furey, a Norwalk native, has been a meteorologist for decades, and he obtained his Bachelor's degree from Villanova University and did graduate studies in meteorology from Western Connecticut State University, according to his bio.
