Rain from the nor'easter will persist throughout the day today, but sunshine and warmer temperatures will return on Tuesday after the system moves out, according to meteorologists.
The National Weather Service said "low pressure will continue to linger in the area through today, and with it, the rainfall will continue."
The storm system will finally depart Monday night into Tuesday, with the precipitation ending tonight, according to the National Weather Service.
A hazardous weather outlook continues to be in place for southern Connecticut, with a coastal flood advisory in effect until mid-afternoon today.
WFSB is calling Monday a "First Alert Weather Day," due to the ongoing impacts of the storm, including periods of rain and breezy conditions, including gusts of 20 to 30 miles per hour.
WTNH predicts periods of rain in the state Monday, along with windy conditions and fog in some areas.
The rest of the week
A calm weather pattern arrives on Tuesday, according to meteorologists.
"We'll finally dry out (Tuesday), gradually turning brighter," WFSB reports. "Temperatures won't be as cool and closer to normal."
The National Weather Service predicts Tuesday and Wednesday will be mostly sunny days, with highs in the low 70s.
The sunshine will continue later this week, accompanied by a warm-up. Thursday and Friday are also expected to be mostly sunny, with highs reaching the mid to upper-70s, according to the National Weather Service.
Looking ahead to the weekend, the National Weather Service predicts partly sunny skies on Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the upper 60s, and a 30 percent chance for showers on Sunday.
"We're not only dry and bright, but trending notably milder," WFSB reports. "In fact, a warmup for the end of the week is the Next Big Thing in our forecast."
