Beloved CT TV News Anchor Reportedly Leaves Station

Evening news anchor Mark Zinni, a 12-year member of the WFSB-TV team, appears to no longer be at the station.

Zinni's bio no longer appears on the WFSB website, and The Laurel first posted that sources have reported that he is no longer at the station.

He was not behind the anchor desk Tuesday for Channel 3's 5 p.m. newscast. He was the anchor for the station's 5, 6, and 11 p.m. newscasts.

Patch has reached out to Zinni and WFSB for comment but has not yet received a reply from either one.

Sources who spoke with Patch on Wednesday said that Zinni was no longer with WFSB but did not offer any details.

On Tuesday morning, Zinni posted a photo to his Facebook page from a visit to Mirsina's restaurant in Old Saybrook, but he made no mention of his departure from the station.

Additionally, Zinni's LinkedIn page still listed him as a WFSB anchor as of Tuesday afternoon.

In 2025, Zinni had a lengthy absence from the station, and though he did not go into specifics, the leave was "to reset and focus on my well-being," he said.

Zinni is an Ohio native whose television news career has included stints at WJW in Cleveland, Ohio; WPRI in Providence, Rhode Island; WICU in Erie, Pennsylvania; and WTOV in Steubenville, Ohio.

He graduated from St. Bonaventure University in the 1990s with a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Mass Communication.
