In the 19th century, the entire shop building was relocated further north on Savage Hill.
This move was accomplished by using oxen to pull the structure to its new site.
Following its relocation, the former clock shop building was converted into a private residence.
The historical site also has connections to the Pistol Creek Golf Course.
Olcott Cheney's home was demolished to facilitate the construction of this golf course.
While the golf course operated for only a few years, the land is now preserved as open space. This open space is available for public enjoyment.

The late 18th and early 19th centuries saw significant industry along Spruce Brook.
During this period, Simeon North was known for producing flintlock pistols.
The Cheney family was actively involved in clock making, and other local craftspeople were engaged in tinware production.
The new shelf clock helps to represent this rich manufacturing history in Berlin.
