Brighter Days? Coronavirus Positivity Rate Drops Below 6% In CT

Neighboring states have not been as fortunate as Connecticut, with both New York and Rhode Island suffering upticks.

CONNECTICUT — The coronavirus positivity rate in the state dropped slightly this week, according to data released by the Department of Public Health reported Tuesday.

On Monday afternoon, Gov. Ned Lamont said the coronavirus positivity rate levelled at around 6 to 6.5 percent across the previous week. As of 8:30 p.m. Monday, the rate dropped to 5.64 percent.

The positive trend is also carrying across to other major pandemic indicators as well.

Just seven new hospitalizations for the virus and 20 more deaths were reported Tuesday. A total of 1,226 people are currently hospitalized and the death toll stands at 5,924 since the pandemic began.
