Championship Saturday - Facts, Figures, Rosters

CONNECTICUT — Championship Saturday is upon us at four different sporting venues throughout Connecticut, with 15 teams ready to raise state title plaques in boys and girls soccer, field hockey and girls volleyball. On Sunday, the girls swimming State Open takes center stage at Yale University.

Eight champions from 2018 have a chance to repeat that success, with Old Lyme girls soccer and Greenwich swimming each seeking a fifth straight championship. Daniel Hand boys soccer and Staples field hockey are on quests for their fourth straight state titles, while Old Saybrook boys soccer, Guilford field hockey, and Seymour and Lyman Memorial volleyball are aiming for back-to-back crowns.

Guilford fans will be busy, as the Indians have three teams (girls soccer, field hockey and volleyball) playing in the finals. Daniel Hand (boys soccer, field hockey), Granby (girls soccer, field hockey) and Holy Cross (boys soccer, girls soccer) each have two teams competing for championships.
