Several CT Swim Areas Closed: Here's What's Open, What's Closed

CONNECTICUT — The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has updated its water quality report for Connecticut's swimming holes.
Mashamoquet Brook State Park in Pomfret remains closed for maintenance. The swimming areas in Squantz Pond State Park, Chatfield Hollow State Park, and Hopeville Pond State Park are closed for re-testing.
The Department of Public Health Lab tests water samples from Connecticut beaches each week for the presence of certain indicator bacteria. These microorganisms are not disease-causing pathogens, but are one of the tools used by public health and environmental protection authorities to evaluate the potential for contamination of waterbodies.
