CT 2024 Presidential Primary Results: Biden, Trump Win: AP
Registered Democrats and Republicans in Connecticut cast their votes Tuesday, April 2 in the 2024 presidential primary.

CONNECTICUT — Donald Trump was declared the winner of the Republican presidential primary by the Associated Press at 8:10 p.m. and President Joe Biden was declared the Democratic winner by AP at 8:08 p.m.
Both the Democrat and Republican front-runners have already clinched their nominations. Biden will be running against former President Trump in November, with both candidates easily sweeping aside primary rivals to be their party's banner bearer once again. Both party's ballots may have had four names on them, but all except Trump and Biden had withdrawn from their races well in advance of Tuesday's vote, and the Connecticut primary was even held earlier this year by four weeks. The move was an attempt "to increase our influence in the national political landscape and encourage more candidate to visit us during the 2024 campaign season," according to Democratic State Rep. Susan Johnson, who serves Windham.
Although none of the former candidates are likely to collect enough votes to make a real difference in the forward trajectory of the front-runners, pundits are looking closely at the margins of victory. Many Americans have taken to casting votes for the also-rans, or "uncommitted," as protests against established candidates they view as disappointments.
Connecticut will be sending 28 delegates to the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, July 15-18, and 74 delegates to the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Aug. 19-23.
