CT Child Tax Credit Rebate Applications Beginning Soon

Qualifying tax filers can receive up to $250 per child in advance state tax credits this year. Here is how to apply.

CONNECTICUT — Connecticut families will soon be able to apply for state child tax credit advance payments. The move is similar to how part of the federal child tax credit for the 2021 tax year was given before tax returns were filed.

State legislators passed a one-time child tax credit of up to $250 per child for a maximum of three children per family.

Any Connecticut resident who claimed at least one child dependent under the age of 18 on their 2021 federal income tax return may be eligible. The income thresholds are $100,000 or less for single or married filing separately, $169,000 for head of household and $200,000 or less for married filing jointly. Those who have higher income rates may be eligible for a reduced rebate.

Anyone interested in getting a rebate can apply through the state Department of Revenue Services. The application period will open June 1 and close July 31. Qualified recipients should receive funds beginning in late August.

DSS is reaching out to more than 300,000 households who meet eligibility requirements through informational postcards that are being mailed this week.
