This CT City Ranks No. 1 for Job Misery—Here’s Why

If you hate your job, you're not alone. A new analysis shows that one Connecticut city leads the way in workplace frustration.

CONNECTICUT — Many people hate their jobs, but workers in one Connecticut city are completely fed up.

Hartford ranked as the No. 1 city when it comes to job misery. The study analyzed thousands of TikTok posts to find out which cities have the most unhappy workers.

"Social media has become a major outlet for people to vent about their jobs, and TikTok is no exception," the study from resume.io reads. "Hashtags like #WhyAmIHere, #MondayMisery, and #NotLivingTheDream might sound like jokes, but they often hide real frustration with work."

The study examined how often those and similar hashtags — like #BadBoss and #ToxicWorkplace — appear from workers in a range of American cities. Hartford landed at the top of the list with 1,295 posts with such tags.

The analysis noted that Hartford is "a city with many corporate and insurance jobs that can feel limiting for some." It also noted that Hartford has a high cost of living.

Other Connecticut cities on the list included New Haven at 48, Waterbury at 154, and Stamford at 194.

What's making workers these days so unhappy? Several factors resume.io noted include the high cost of living, demanding jobs that create stress, long hours, and low pay.

"On top of that, poor management or toxic workplace cultures can make matters even worse," the study reads.
