CT Clergy 'Credibly Accused' Of Sexual Abuse: Where Are They Now?

CONNECTICUT —A deeper dive into the database compiled by journalism site ProPublica, a Patch Partner, draws a more vivid picture of how mobile were the Catholic clergy "credibly accused" of sexual abuse. The list included many abusers from Connecticut.

In many cases, the data answers the question many readers had following the publication of the data on Tuesday, especially: "Where are they now?"

More than 6,700 names are included in the database, and over 5,800 of them are unique. A little more than half of the people named were listed as being deceased, and that ratio pretty much carries across into the Connecticut data, below.

The dioceses were not consistent in their reporting. Some, like the Diocese of Bridgeport, provided a complete and dated assignment history. Others, like the Diocese of Norwich, put forth a "bare minimum" of the priest's status, and dates of birth and ordination. Other dioceses, not in Connecticut, included additional details such as the nature of the allegations.
