CT Coronavirus Hospitalizations Drop As Some Regulations Loosen
The coronavirus metrics are all tracking in the right direction as some state restrictions are lifted.
CONNECTICUT — The state's daily coronavirus positivity rate dropped slightly, down to 3.04 percent on Friday, but the better story is found in the hospitals.
COVID-19 related hospitalizations continued to decline, according to the state Department of Public Health, dropping 10 beds overnight to a total of 827. That's the lowest the number has been since Nov. 17, 2020.
In all, the metrics continue to track in the right direction, as the state slowly makes up the ground it lost over Thanksgiving and Christmas when family gatherings and interstate travel caused a spike in cases, infection rates and hospitalizations.

Gov. Ned Lamont said he fears the state may be in for another spike following the anticipated gatherings around the Super Bowl, and urged residents to exercise caution when enjoying the game on Sunday.
The words of caution came right on the heels of an executive order which loosened some of the coronavirus restrictions imposed by the state, including the removal of the 100-person numerical cap on indoor worship.
