CT Coronavirus Hospitalizations See Big Drop, Deaths Remain High
The state's coronavirus hospitalizations reached early December levels after a large drop in the net number of patients.
CONNECTICUT — Connecticut’s post-Thanksgiving coronavirus spike may be calming down, but the state still has several holidays to go, plus the typical winter season where respiratory viruses are more common.
Connecticut reported another 2,321 cases Thursday and a positive test rate of 6.46 percent.
Coronavirus hospitalizations continued a downward march with a 49-patient decrease Thursday, down to 1,205 currently hospitalized for the virus. That brings hospitalizations back to early December levels.

It’s a better alternative than ever-increasing hospitalizations, but that’s still no reason to not be careful, Gov. Ned Lamont said at a news conference. Thanksgiving clearly had an effect on the state’s coronavirus situation for the worse, and it would be best not to have a repeat with the other holidays coming up, he said.
Thursday’s report wasn’t all better news as another 46 deaths were reported. That brought the state total up to 5,552. The daily death toll has been above 30 people the majority of the days in December so far.
