CT COVID-19 Hospitalizations Above 300, First Time Since Mid-February

Connecticut experienced an increase of 40 COVID-19 hospitalized patients between Monday and Tuesday.

CONNECTICUT — COVID-19 hospitalizations eclipsed 300 patients for the first time since mid-February in Connecticut.

The state reported 316 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 Tuesday, which was up 40 patients from Monday and 80 over seven days.

Connecticut’s rolling seven-day positive test rate and case count are also moving in the wrong direction. The seven-day positive test rate reached 12.39 percent and there were 8,741 cases reported, which works out to about 1,250 daily cases.

Hartford, Middlesex and New Haven counties moved into the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s high warning level for COVID-19 infections last week. The CDC recommends people wear masks indoors when in public.

Less than three percent of U.S. counties were in the high warning level as of Tuesday, and the majority are in the Northeast.

The rest of Connecticut’s counties are in the medium warning level. The CDC recommends people at risk for severe COVID-19 illness talk to their doctor about wearing a mask in public and take other precautions. About 10 percent of U.S. counties are in the medium warning level.
