CT Gov. Lamont: Trump Made Me Ask Nicely For Isaias Disaster Aid
Gov. Ned Lamont was quoted in the upcoming book "This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America's Future."

CONNECTICUT — Gov. Ned Lamont is among other governors who said former President Donald Trump made them ask nicely for federal disaster aid.
Lamont was quoted in the upcoming book, "This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America's Future," written by New York Times reporters Jonathan Martin and Alex Burns, according to The Independent.
Lamont said during an interview on WTIC 1080 that the account in the book is accurate. He said he felt like Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his 2019 call with Trump.

Lamont had requested federal disaster aid after Tropical Storm Isaias caused widespread damage to Connecticut’s electrical grid. The storm hit Connecticut Aug. 4, 2020 and caused more than 750,000 power outages; some residents were without power for a week.
“We finally got around to the issue at hand, and he said ask me nicely,” Lamont said during an interview on WTIC 1080.

The approval would give Connecticut tens of millions of dollars in aid, Lamont said.
“Mr. President, it would mean a lot to us if we could get that reimbursement, and he said, 'done,” Lamont recalled from the conversation.
Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, a Republican, shared a similar account in the book, according to the Independent.
