CT Passes Grim Milestone Of 6,000 Coronavirus Deaths

Coronavirus hospitalizations declined again, but at the same time the state surpassed the grim milestone of 6,000 coronavirus deaths.

CONNECTICUT — Connecticut passed the grim milestone of 6,000 coronavirus deaths shortly after the new year began. There were 104 coronavirus-related deaths since Thursday, which put the state total at 6,099.

Net coronavirus hospitalizations continued to decline with an 80-patient drop over two days down to 1,056.

There were more than 4,400 cases reported over two days and a positive test rate of around 7 percent. The positive test rate declined from the previous two days, but still remains elevated compared to previous weeks. The positive test rate from Dec. 1 to 30 was around 6.5 percent.

Connecticut’s positive test rate saw an increase after Thanksgiving, and it appears there was an increase after Christmas.
