Here's Who Won In CT's Primary Elections, Including U.S. Senate Race
Trump-endorsed Leora Levy won the Senate primary. Winners were called for secretary of state and state treasurer races as well.
CONNECTICUT —Donald Trump-endorsed candidate Leora Levy declared victory in U.S. Senate Republican primary against former state House of Representatives minority leader and moderate candidate Themis Klarides.
The Associated Press called the race around 11 p.m. Levy declared victory and Klarides conceded. Levy will face off against incumbent Sen. Richard Blumenthal in November.
Klarides received the party endorsement going into the election, but Trump endorsed Levy late last week and helped her in a telethon fundraiser Monday. Levy held a 10 percentage point margin (about 8,000 votes) as of 11 p.m. with 74 percent of precincts reporting, according to the Secretary of the State election night reporting system.

Klarides said the results weren't what she hoped for, but congratulated Levy on her victory, according to WFSB.
According to the Connecticut Secretary of State website, Levy ended up with 45,725 votes, Klarides, 36,275, and Peter Lumaj with 8,474 votes.

Both Republican and Democratic voters affirmed party picks across the board for the constitutional statewide races Tuesday night. November will be a rarity for Connecticut, since three constitutional officers resigned or announced they wouldn’t run for reelection.
For Democrats, Maritza Bond conceded to party-endorsed candidate Stephanie Thomas in the secretary of the state race about an hour after polls closed. Thomas is the state representative for the 143rd House District, which covers portions of Norwalk, Wilton and Westport. Thomas received 82,059 votes and Bond 26,169.
Republican Dominic Rapini bested Darien State House Rep. Terrie Wood in the secretary of the state race, according to the Associated Press. Rapini received 49,742 votes and Wood 35,759 votes, according to the Secretary of the State election night reporting system.
Rapini is a longtime Apple salesman and a member of the Branford Republican Town Committee. He has testified several times in Hartford about Connecticut’s election system and has said the state needs to update its voter rolls.
Former Secretary of the State Denise Merrill announced earlier this year that she wouldn’t seek reelection. She resigned earlier this summer to care for her ailing husband.
Democrats also had a three-candidate race for state treasurer. Current State Treasurer Sean Wooden announced he wouldn’t run for reelection in order to spend more time with his family.
The Associated Press called the race in favor of party-endorsed candidate Erick Russell in the three-candidate race. He is a partner attorney at Pullman and Comley, where he focuses on public and private finances. He has represented municipalities and state agencies on projects including schools, affordable housing and restructuring pension obligations
Russell faced off against financier Dita Bhargava and Housing Authority of New Haven President Karen DuBois-Walton. Russell received 61,961 votes, Bhargava 24,480 votes, and Dubois Walton, 21,046 votes.
Jayme Stevenson held a massive lead against Michael Ted Goldstein in the Republican 4th Congressional District primary. Stevenson received 9,961 votes and Goldstein 6,554. Stevenson is a former Darien first selectman and will face off against incumbent Rep. Jim Himes in November.
State Comptroller Kevin Lembo resigned at the end of last year due to a serious health condition. Neither Republicans nor Democrats had a primary for the race. Democratic State Rep. Sean Scanlon will face off against Republican Mary Fay in November.
