$1K Fine For Travelers Who Violate CT Quarantine Order: Lamont
Visitors from the 31 states on Connecticut's coronavirus travel advisory face a $1,000 fine for violating the order.
CONNECTICUT — Gov. Ned Lamont on Tuesday signed an executive order that will subject visitors who violate the state’s coronavirus travel advisory to a $1,000 fine.
Travelers from 31 states with high rates of coronavirus will have to self-quarantine for 14 days upon entering Connecticut or show proof of a negative coronavirus test 72 hours prior to travel. The order rule and potential fine go into effect Friday.
New York and New Jersey also have travel advisories in effect.

Connecticut's fines will be administered through the state Department of Public Health. Travelers will have to fill out an online form before traveling to the state. Those who refuse to fill out the form can be fined.
“With infection rates out of control in much of the South, Midwest, and Southwest, and many tourists coming to Connecticut for summer vacation, I have made the determination that we need an enforceable quarantine order to keep Connecticut residents as safe as possible,” Lamont said. “In taking this action, I am empowering the Department of Public Health to hold travelers accountable with significant fines for anyone not following the rules.”

Those who opt for the test exception are still encouraged to quarantine upon arrival for 14 days, but it isn’t mandatory. Travelers who don’t have the results from their test must quarantine until the results are released.
DPH personnel are being sent to Bradley International Airport to inform incoming travelers about the requirement and will direct them to fill out the form.
There are exceptions for essential workers on work-related travel and the rules don’t apply to travelers who have a connecting flight from an impacted state, so long as their state of origin isn’t on the advisory list.
