CONNECTICUT — Hopefully, your outdoor 4th of July weekend plans are scheduled for Sunday and Monday.

The National Weather Service said that rain showers and thunderstorms are forecast for late Friday, and that is expected to continue off-and-on Saturday. A half inch of rain is forecast on Saturday and storms are also possible. The chance of rain is around 70 percent Saturday and the sky will be mostly cloudy, the weather service said.

On Saturday, the weather service said some storms may approach severe levels and downpours are also possible.

Rain showers and storms may continue through Sunday morning and then the weather picture improves Sunday afternoon with partly sunny skies and a high temperature in the low to mid 80s. The 4th of July itself looks great, with sunshine and temperatures in the mid 80s.
