Rain returns to Connecticut’s forecast Tuesday night, which carries an 80 percent chance of precipitation, according to the National Weather Service. Showers and potential thunderstorms will stick around until Thursday afternoon, the forecast states, but that doesn't mean it will be raining that entire time period.
Rain and possibly a thunderstorm is forecast after midnight and up to half inch of rain is forecast. The rain should taper off by noon Wednesday, though there may be some thunderstorms and another quarter of an inch of rain Wednesday morning, the weather service said.

The culprit is a front pressing into the Northeast, according to an AccuWeather report. Showers across the state aren’t expected to be heavy Wednesday, but that could change Thursday.
"An area from the mid-Atlantic up through New England could get 1 to 2 inches of rain on Thursday alone,” said Carl Babinski, an AccuWeather senior meteorologist, in the report.
