The National Weather Service said there may be severe weather in Connecticut on Tuesday. Here is the expected timeline.

CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for the entire state of Connecticut for Tuesday. The weather service cautions that severe storms are possible Tuesday afternoon along with strong gusty winds.

For all of southern Connecticut, the weather service said, "There is a low probability for widespread hazardous weather meeting (National Weather Service) warning criteria Tuesday afternoon, as an approaching cold front triggers a few thunderstorms. The strongest storms could produce brief strong winds and hail."

Thunderstorms are forecast after 2 p.m. Tuesday in northern Connecticut continuing up until 5 p.m. and there may be some strong wind gusts and or hail too.

For Litchfield County, the weather service said, a hazardous weather outlook has been issued. "A strong cold front will move through the region on Tuesday with showers and possible thunderstorms. There is a marginal to slight risk for thunderstorms to produce locally damaging winds Tuesday afternoon. Behind the cold front, gusty west to northwest winds are expected Tuesday evening through early Wednesday afternoon. At this time, wind gusts up to 45 mph are expected. If confidence increases for wind gusts greater than 45 mph, then a Wind Advisory would be issued."
