CT's Coronavirus Positivity Rate Just Dropped Big. Will It Last?

After reaching a 5-month high earlier in the week, Connecticut's COVID-19 positivity rate dropped like a stone. Keep your fingers crossed...

CONNECTICUT — After reaching a 5-month high on Thursday, the coronavirus positivity rate dropped — plummeted, really — in the latest set of numbers reported by the state Department of Public Health.

Another 30,554 tests were administered and 761 came back positive, yielding a positivity rate of 2.5 percent. That's a far cry and a big sigh away from the previous day's 6.1 percent, the highest infection rate reported in the state since June 1.

Another eight infected patients were hospitalized, bringing that total to 329 beds statewide. Seven more coronavirus-associated deaths were reported. The state COVID-19 death toll now stands at 4,616.
