CVS Announces Mass Layoff Associated With Aetna Building In Hartford
A filing by CVS outlines more than 400 job cuts associated with the Aetna headquarters and many are directly related to Connecticut.

HARTFORD, CT — CVS Health over the weekend announced a layoff of more than 400 employees associated with the Aetna Headquarters building in Hartford. Nearly 100 are directly connected to the state, the company said.
A Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act was posted with state and city officials Sunday announcing the move.
"We are writing to inform you that CVS Health will be conducting a mass layoff at its facility located at 151 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, Connecticut. This action is expected to be permanent," the WARN notice stated.

Job terminations will be conducted over a 14-day period beginning on Dec. 8 and running through Dec. 21, according to the WARN paperwork.
In all, 416 employees are being let go, 93 of which report directly to the 151 Farmington Ave. building, officials said. The remaining 323 jobs are held by "outstationed/remote employees" who "report into the facility" and are spread out all over the country, according to the warn notice.

All the affected employees have been notified, according to the WARN notice.
There are no "bumping rights" for the affected employees and the employees are not represented by a union, according to the WARN notice.
The Sunday WARN filing follows a Sept. 30 announcement by CVS that its workforce would be trimmed by 2,900. CVS officials said the strategy is to save $2 billion by "reducing expenses and investing in technologies to enhance how we work." In its most recent quarterly report, CVS officials claimed that same-store sales for non-prescription products suffered a 4 percent drop.
