Dead Black Bear Found In Burlington With Apparent Gunshot Wound: Police

DEEP officials are seeking the public's help to identify whoever is responsible.

BURLINGTON, CT — A deceased male black bear was discovered dumped on the side of Upson Road Sunday with an apparent gunshot wound.

Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police are seeking the public’s assistance to help them find whoever is responsible for killing the bear.

The bear, which weighed about 200 pounds, had a wound behind its front right shoulder consistent with being shot, police said. Officers seized the bear carcass for their investigation.

Recreational bear hunting is prohibited in Connecticut.

Police said they do not believe the incident took place on Upson Road.
