Enjoy Today As Weather Takes A Big Turn For The Worse: CT Weather

Sadly, the amazing weather won't last too long. Here's what you can expect from the weather this weekend in Connecticut.

CONNECTICUT — Yesterday was a beautiful weather day and we can expect today (Thursday) to be more of the same with plenty of sunshine and temps into the mid 60s. Friday, not so much. The weather takes a turn for the worse on Friday as periods of heavy rain are expected and there is a chance for thunderstorms too.

The rain and unsettled weather is expected to spill into the weekend but should exit the state before noon Saturday. More off and on showers are expected on Sunday but the weekend will not be a washout and sun is expected Saturday afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties saying, "Bands of heavy rain with embedded thunderstorms are possible Friday night which may result in minor poor drainage flooding. In addition there is a very low risk for one or two strong thunderstorms."

The National Weather Service says, "Clouds will be on the increase through the day today. An onshore southerly wind this afternoon will keep temperatures from rising out of the 60s. Cooler readings will be found closer to the coast.

"A warm front approaches the area tonight, and light rain is possible through the overnight. Low temperatures will range from the upper 40s to the lower 50s. The warm front moves closer from the south Friday morning, and should lift across parts of the area in the afternoon. Any rain in the morning will give way to possible heavier showers late in the day and into the night as low pressure and cold front approach, then pass across the area. Daytime high temperatures will rise into the lower 60s, then fall into the 40s and 50s Friday night as cooler air moves in behind the front."
