Former Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy continues to take heat from the University of Maine community, where he is now a chancellor in the state university's system.

According to the Portland Press Herald out of Maine, University of Southern Maine faculty issued a vote of no confidence for Malloy Friday afternoon.

Malloy oversees operations of multiple universities within the state school's umbrella.

The Portland newspaper said faculty cited high turnover of UMaine System presidents, with three resigning in less than a year.

Southern Maine faculty also accused Malloy of not seeking faculty input when making key decisions, the Press Herald reported.

Malloy, who once worked as a prosecuting attorney, was the mayor of Stamford from 1995 to 2009 and, from 2011 to 2019, was the governor of Connecticut.

Friday's voted ended a tumultuous week for the ex-head of Connecticut government, with students at the University of Maine at Farmington staging a 24-hour sit-in Tuesday into Wednesday to protest Malloy regarding the elimination of faculty positions there.

Meanwhile, University of Maine Augusta faculty passed a resolution of no confidence against Malloy last week, the Press Herald said.

That resolution cited Malloy's role in a presidential search process for one of the schools in which a vote of no confidence at the candidate's prior school wasn't disclosed, the newspaper reported.
