Goodwill's Lighthouse Point Park 'Fantasy Of Lights' Burglarized On Christmas Weekend

NEW HAVEN, CT — Police are investigating after the Fantasy of Lights at Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven was burglarized over Christmas weekend. A trailer on the site was burglarized and a safe containing cash and “business items” was stolen, according to Goodwill of Southern New England.

The decades-long holiday event is Goodwill’s biggest fundraiser.

New Haven police are investigating, according to a news release from Goodwill. Anyone with information can submit tips anonymously by calling 1-866-888-TIPS(8477), or text "NHPD plus your message" to 274637 (CRIMES).

Fantasy of Lights has become a holiday tradition for thousands of families over the past 27 years. This bright and colorful light display illuminates Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven, Connecticut for the holiday season.

All proceeds from the event directly benefit the many programs of Goodwill of Southern New England that help countless individuals and families in the communities they serve to live more fulfilling lives through the power of work, according to the news release.

Goodwill of Southern New England helps people to become and stay employed, with a focus on individuals that experience barriers in their quest to become more successful and self-sufficient under their mission to enhance employment, educational, social, and recreational opportunities for people with disabilities and other challenges throughout south-central and eastern Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Family’s Pride Flag Damaged Twice Over Christmas Weekend

Police are investigating after a Hamden family’s LGBTQ pride flag was vandalized twice over Christmas weekend.

Joe and Liz Bossoli’s security cameras captured video of someone slashing the flag during the early morning hours on Christmas Eve, according to WTNH News 8. They repaired the flag and put it back on display, but another incident happened around midnight on Monday, and they believe it was the same person.
