Former CT Teacher Pleads Not Guilty To Sexual Assault: Report

NEW BRITAIN, CT — A former Connecticut teacher pleaded not guilty to several sexual assault charges during a Tuesday court appearance, according to reports.
James Eschert, 50, a former teacher at Plymouth Center School, is accused of inappropriate conduct with several of his students, Fox 61 reported, citing Plymouth police as well as court documents.
Eschert reportedly favored some female fourth-grade students by providing answers to quizzes, hugging them, and inviting them to stay inside for recess for "Fun Friday," Fox 61 reported, citing court documents. Victims reportedly also told investigators that Eschert touched them and took inappropriate photos.

Eschert was placed on administrative leave from the school in September. He's now charged with five counts of risk of injury and two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault.
His next court date is April 26.
