Gas Prices Are Climbing In CT — Here’s How Much They’ve Jumped
The state average rose as oil prices climb amid Middle East conflict and seasonal demand, AAA said.
CONNECTICUT — Gas prices are climbing again across Connecticut, rising sharply over the past month as global tensions and seasonal demand increase costs, according to AAA.
The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Connecticut reached $3.76, up from $3.52 a week ago and significantly higher than $2.90 a month ago, AAA data shows. The national average stood at about $3.91, compared to $2.93 last month.
Fairfield and Windham counties have the highest average gas prices at $3.81 and $3.78, respectively, while Litchfield and Tolland counties are the lowest at about $3.72.

In other counties, AAA data shows average prices of $3.77 in New London, $3.76 in Middlesex and Hartford, and $3.73 in New Haven.
AAA said prices have increased by about 28 cents over the past week, driven in part by rising crude oil prices and increased demand as the spring travel season begins.

At the same time, escalating conflict in the Middle East is adding pressure to global energy markets. Attacks on oil and gas infrastructure and disruptions to shipping routes — including threats to the Strait of Hormuz, a key corridor for global oil supply — have contributed to rising oil prices worldwide.
Crude oil prices recently climbed to about $96 per barrel, while U.S. gasoline supply and production both declined last week, according to federal energy data.
Despite a federal plan to release millions of barrels of oil from the nation’s strategic reserves, AAA said the move has not yet provided immediate relief at the pump.
