Here's Where CT Cities Rank On List Of Nation's Most Diverse
Three Connecticut cities ranked high in a new study comparing cities in terms of a range of diversity categories.
CONNECTICUT — A new study by personal finance site WalletHub ranks large, mid-sized, and small cities in terms of diversity. Three Connecticut cities — Bridgeport, Stamford, and Danbury — landed in high places on the list.
The country is "undergoing an extreme makeover, thanks to rapid demographic diversification," according to WalletHub. One indicator of change is the percentage of the multiracial population increasing from 2.9 percent in 2010 to 10.2 percent in 2020.
"Not only have waves of immigration changed the face of the nation, they’ve also brought in fresh perspectives, skills and technologies to help the U.S. develop a strong adaptability to change," WalletHub writes. "Economies generally fare better when they openly embrace and capitalize on new ideas. Conversely, those relying on old ways and specialized industries tend to be hurt more by changes in the market."
