It was expected to reach Florida late Friday and the eastern Carolinas by early next week, according to the weather service.

"There is a risk of impacts from winds, heavy rainfall, and storm surge late this weekend from the northeastern Florida coast and spreading northward along the remainder of the U.S. east coast through early next week," the weather service said. "The details of the track and intensity forecast remain uncertain, and it is too soon to determine the magnitude and location of these potential impacts, but interests along the entire U.S. east coast should monitor the progress of Isaias and updates to the forecast."

Concerning Connecticut, the weather service addED, "The most likely impacts at this time would be from high surf and dangerous rip currents at the ocean beaches." The weather service said the "tropical system or remnants" should leave the region Thursday.

WTNH News 8 Chief Meteorologist Gil Simmons said, "I need you to make sure you check in over the weekend to watch Hurricane Isaias that may come close to the entire East Coast over the weekend and next week. A landfall possible in North Carolina. It could get close to Connecticut late Monday through early Wednesday of next week!"

NBC CT Chief Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan said heavy rain, strong winds and flooding is possible.

"Could we see a significant impact? Yes - but it's quite early and plenty of time for the track to change," Hanrahan said.
