Juvenile Bitten By Dog, Torrington Police Say

Police said the owner of the dog has come forward and is cooperating with police.

TORRINGTON, CT — Police are investigating after a juvenile was bitten by a dog on Friday.

Police said in an update over the weekend that a suspect has been identified and is cooperating with police.

Police said around 2:55 p.m., a juvenile was bitten by a dog in the area of Maplewood and Central avenues.

"The attacking dog’s owner, described as a white female with dark hair in her 20s-30s, initially wearing a light colored shirt, black pants and black shoes, fled the scene with her dog without identifying herself...," police said in an initial statement on social media. "It is believed she later returned in a green/ brown shirt (3rd photo) to retrieve her phone that was dropped during the incident. The dog that bit the juvenile is described as a light gray/ tan pitbull or similar looking mixed breed. The suspect was last seen leaving the scene on foot, northbound on Maplewood Avenue."
