CT Weather: Labor Day Weekend Forecast Changes For The Worse

Another day, another Heat Advisory in effect for the state and an Excessive Heat Warning continues for Hartford County on Wednesday. The good news is that the heatwave ends Thursday but the bad news is that there may be associated thunderstorms Thursday afternoon and evening.

Unfortunately, the weather forecast for the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend has taken a turn for the worse. Saturday still looks very cloudy but dry, however Sunday and Monday now look unstable with a chance of showers and thunderstorms both days.

It doesn't look like a washout either day but if you're having outdoor plans this holiday weekend, you may need to check the sky as storms could roll through. * HEAT INDEX VALUES...105 to 110 due to temperatures in the mid and upper 90s, and dewpoints in the mid 70s.

* TIMING...Today.

* IMPACTS...The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure.

Tolland and Windham counties:

..HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* HEAT INDEX VALUES...Up to 105 due to temperatures in the mid 90s, and dewpoints in the mid 70s.

* TIMING...Today.

* IMPACTS...The heat and humidity may cause heat stress duringoutdoor exertion or extended exposure.

* LOCATION...Most of southern New England.

Litchfield County:

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* Heat Index Values...In the mid 90s to low 100s due to temperatures in the low to mid 90s, and dewpoints in the lower 70s.

* Timing...late this morning into this evening.

* Impacts...The combination of heat and high humidity levels pose a significant risk for heat stress or other heat related illnesses particularly to those most vulnerable.

The National Weather Service says, "Hot and humid conditions are expected to continue today as Bermuda high pressure remains just southeast of the region. ... Another night of well above normal temperatures is expected again.

The heat wave will finally come to an end tomorrow as a cold front moves through the area, bringing an increase in cloud cover and a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures will be
cooler, although still above normal in the mid to upper 80s. A marked decrease in humidity will occur by evening following the frontal passage."
