Town-By-Town CT Coronavirus Updates: Cases, Hospitalizations, Schools

There were 368 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 as of Thursday, an increase of five patients from the prior week.

CONNECTICUT — There was little appreciable movement in the number of COVID-19 cases and patients hospitalized over the past week.

There were 368 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 as of Thursday, an increase of five patients from the prior week. Last week, hospitalizations had dropped 26 patients from the prior week.

The state reported 2,464 cases over seven days. The weekly positive test rate dropped from 7.54 percent to 7.33 percent this week. The actual number of cases is likely higher, as many at-home positive test results go unreported.

New London County has remained at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s lowest COVID-19 community level, while all other counties continue at the medium level.

While this week's report from the state Department of Public Health indicates that there are 50 new deaths, 10 of those deaths are from November. The remaining 40 are from August 2022 to October 2022 and were newly reported this week. This week's 10 deaths are six fewer than last week's tally. The state coronavirus-associated death toll stands at 11,528.

DPH has identified a total of 293,006 cases of COVID-19 among fully vaccinated persons in Connecticut as of Nov. 9. Those cases account for 10.6 percent of the nearly 2.8 million people in the state who are fully vaccinated.

School COVID-19 Cases Drop

There were fewer reported COVID-19 cases among students and among staff in PK-12 schools during the most recent reporting period. DPH reported 637 cases among students and 228 among staff between Nov. 3-9. There were 1,001 cases among students and 402 among staff in the previous reporting week.
