CONNECTICUT — M&T Bank has sent out new debit cards to transitioning People's United Bank customers in anticipation of the holiday weekend changeover.

In April, M&T Bank Corporation, the parent company of M&T Bank, announced on Saturday the completion of its $8.3 billion acquisition of People's United Financial, Inc., the parent of People's United Bank.

People's United customers are being advised to activate their new M&T debit cards as soon as they arrive and store them in a secure place.
