Man Dies After Kayak Overturns, State Officials Say
The accident was reported on Saturday.
NORTH CANAAN, CT — A man died after their kayak overturned on Saturday, state officials said.
James Fowler, a state Department of Energy & Environmental Protection spokesperson, said that DEEP Environmental Conservation Police (EnCon) responded with emergency responders from North Canaan and Connecticut State Police Troop B to a private pond for a report of a kayak that had overturned with one person in the water.
The victim was recovered, and life-saving measures were attempted. The victim, an adult male, was pronounced deceased.

The victim was the only occupant of the kayak at the time of the incident.
DEEP Environmental Conservation Police are the lead investigating agency, and the investigation remains ongoing.
