Man Pushes Boy, 11, Off Bike In Deep River: Reports

The family of an 11-year-old boy who was pushed off a bike is accusing the assailant of racism.

DEEP RIVER, CT — A man is facing charges on accusations that he pushed an 11-year-old boy off a bike in Deep River, according to FOX 61. The boy's mother is also accusing the 48-year-old man of racism.

Jameson Chapman was charged with third-degree assault, risk of injury to a child, and second-degree breach of peace.

The boy's mother said he was on his way to meet a friend to play basketball when the confrontation occurred. A video captured the attack that shows Chapman cursing and yelling at the boy to "get the [expletive] out of my town" in one video.

A second video shows Chapman pushing the boy off his bike Monday afternoon, The New Haven Register reported.

The boy's mother said that the family moved to Deep River four years ago and has experienced this behavior before. Her other son was shot with a pellet gun earlier this month and her children have been verbally attacked in school, FOX 61 reported.

Chapman was held on $10,000 bond and is scheduled for arraignment at Superior Court in Middletown on Tuesday.
