Mom Accused Of Abandoning 2-Year-Old In Bristol Apartment: Reports

Ivette Hernandez, 26, is accused of abandoning her son, 2, in a neighbor's apartment in her building in Bristol.

BRISTOL, CT — A woman is facing charges after apparently abandoning her 2-year-old son at an apartment in Bristol last month, according to multiple reports.

Ivette Hernandez, 26, is accused of abandoning her son in a neighbor's apartment Oct. 9 in the building on Conlon Street where they both live, WFSB reported.

An arrest warrant affidavit states that the neighbor texted Hernandez and asked "so you abandoned your son," to which Hernandez responded "yes" and added that she no longer wanted to care for him and was not coming back, according to the outlet.

The little boy is safe and being cared for by his grandmother, WFSB reported, adding that Hernandez has two other children who live with their father.

Hernandez is facing a charge of abandonment of a child under the age of six years, according to WTNH. Her next court date is scheduled for Dec. 20.
