More Than 10,000 Without Power In Connecticut: Report

In Massachusetts, more than 8,000 also lost electricity, along with 2,794 in Maine, 1,690 in Vermont, NBC Boston reported.

HARTFORD, CT — More than 10,000 Connecticut power outages remained on Monday morning as high winds continued to barrel through the northeast after the latest winter storm slammed the northeast, The Connecticut Post reported.

Connecticut's two major power companies reported a total of about 13,000 power outages as of around 7:30 a.m, according to the outlet.

The state's largest provider, Eversource, reported 12,742 as of that time, with the figure including more than 1,100 outages in Newtown and more than 1,000 in each Waterbury and Norwalk, while United Illuminating, which serves the greater New Haven and Bridgeport areas, reported 259 outages as of the same time.

The number of outages was originally closer to more than 16,000, NBC Boston reported.

There were more than 8,000 outages across Massachusetts, according to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency's website.

In Maine there were 2,794, and 1,690 in Vermont, 313 in Rhode Island, and 62 in New Hampshire, NBC Boston reported.
