More Thunderstorms Expected For CT And New Details On Labor Day Weekend Forecast

It will be cloudy and dry in Connecticut for much of the day today, followed by rounds of showers and thunderstorms tonight and into early Thursday.
More precipitation is expected Thursday afternoon, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service says the risk for severe weather is “low,” but “thunderstorms that form will be capable of producing heavy rain and local instances of urban/poor drainage flooding.”

Along with today’s clouds, it will be on the cool side, with highs in the mid-70s, followed by a warm-up into the low 80s for Thursday.
WFSB’s meteorologists predict the next round of rain and thunder will be overnight tonight, with the arrival of a warm front.

WFSB anticipates any precipitation should taper off to scattered showers by daybreak Thursday.
“Otherwise, we start (Thursday) cloudy then turn brighter,” WFSB reports. “It will be noticeably more humid as temperatures warm to near or just above 80. During the afternoon, there’s the potential for isolated storm development as a cold front moves into and through Southern New England.”
Looking ahead, Friday is expected to be dry and sunny, with highs in the low 80s, according to the National Weather Service.
The Labor Day holiday weekend is predicted to be a nice one for outdoor activities, with sunshine and highs in the 70s for Saturday through Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
“The stage is set for a really nice 3-day weekend as it appears to feature mainly dry and fairly bright weather,” WFSB reports. “When it comes to temperature, it will be seasonably cool with overnight lows in the 50s and afternoon highs in the 70s.”

Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 a.m. Low around 61. South wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 3 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5 p.m. Patchy fog before 10 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. South wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
