Four GoFundMe Sites Set Up For Slain Officers' Families
Police Sgt. Dustin DeMonte, 35, and Officer Alex Hamzy, 34, were both killed in an ambush at a home in Bristol Oct. 12.

BRISTOL, CT — The horrific deaths of two Bristol Police Department officers last week has touched off a mountain of support and well-wishers from throughout the state.
And four separate GoFundMe drives have been created to help out the families of the murdered officers.
Bristol police Sgt. Dustin DeMonte, 35, and Officer Alex Hamzy, 34, were both killed in an ambush at a home in Bristol Oct. 12, as was the suspect.

Bristol Police Department officer Alec Iurato, himself wounded, shot and killed the gunman.
The suspect's brother was wounded in the shootout as well, and his role in the shooting is still being investigated.

As the investigation continues, donations are being set up by four different GoFundMe pages:
• Farmington resident Kevin Carroccia has organized a GoFundMe page to help out the family of Hamzy.

As of Monday afternoon, $27,411 of the $100,000 goal had been raised.
• Rebecca Pizzoferrato, also a Farmington resident, has set up a GoFundMe for the widow of Hamzy. Pizzoferrato is a co-worker of the widow.

As of Monday afternoon, $3,405 of the $15,000 goal was raised.
• Meanwhile, Ashley Sousa of East Hartford has set up a GoFundMe for DeMonte's family.
DeMonte left behind a wife, two kids and a third child on the way.

As of Monday afternoon, $9,685 had been raised toward the $10,000 goal.
• And Florida resident Ian Berger, a podcaster and the 2020 Miami Dolphins Fan of the Year, set up a fund for DeMonte's family.
DeMonte was a huge fan of the Miami Dolphins.
As of Monday afternoon, it had raised $5,431 toward the $25,000 goal.
